Phyllis Wolff - CV

The most important single event in the development of Phyllis Wolff as an artist was her move to Dorset in 1976. In the succeeding decades she has become increasingly well-known as a painter. She has exhibited widely and her paintings are in a large number of private and public collections.

Phyllis was born in Surrey, and educated at City of London Freeman's School. She studied art at Goldsmiths' College and St Martins School of Art, and taught at Kingston School of Art before moving to Dorset. In 1979 she completed the mural which is in Shaftesbury Town Hall, and she restored it in 2004.

Since 1993 Phyllis Wolff has had eight solo exhibitions in galleries in England and abroad.

"I have one landscape, two still lifes and a woodcut by Phyllis Wolff. I always appreciate integrity and excellence ... and they are evident in Phyllis' work. I am impressed by her passion for the natural world and commitment to painting ... Phyllis has an inexhaustible curiosity and is inspired by direct observation of whatever subject she chooses, and interprets them with vigour and insight."
